| First I had to spend half of Friday scrambling for a Rental and got one about 3pm, so I was super late getting started to O-Town!
Then as we went through WPB we overheat and had to stop in Beautiful (Ugh) Boyton beach! Sat for 3 hours at a Shell station til the tow truck brings the replacement car and we leave about 7pm.
Take about 3 1/2 hours til we get to the hotel. Talked to marc and a few others got our room and crashed!
Saturday was ok but for the fact that our Cosplay Improv event time was at the same time as the main guest Zugnick who's from the Horror Movie Repoman!
Was rescheduled to 9pm after the Movie & Show, well we were late as a stupid butt-wad brought a gun into the con closing it for a hour.
We finally got a true Improv show with Chris and his gang from his W4Cy online Radio show! We definitely had fun even with a small audience due to the scheduling problems! So overall a small con with a bit more organization!
with that and a few more tweeks it can be better!

| After taking half a day to secure a rental after Avis whom I've used for 5 years basically turned me down, I'm finally here in O-town!
Have alot more to tell about the trip up but I'll post that after the con.
Hope to see a few familiar faces at the con and at my Afternoon show!

| Taken from Facebook Petition page!
Teresa Montgomery Garcia sent a message to the members of Anything Goes Anime Petition.
-------------------- Subject: FIU students - please email this to csofiu@gmail.com with your name and Student ID (edit as you with
This Thursday, November 12, the members of Anything Goes Anime Film Club will take part in a silent petition outside of our own meeting.
Since 1997, Anything Goes Anime Film Club has operated as an FIU club, under CSO (originally SOC). Our club is very diverse and includes many FIU students as well as alumni, sometimes a few high school students who usually end up attending FIU, and several longtime members who have not attended FIU but are very much a part of our club. We've put together some of the largest events on FIU campus, including but not limited to the annual Japanese animation and culture convention Yasumicon run every summer in FIU South campus' Graham Center and Library auditorium which every year gathers thousands of high school and college students interested in anime from across the state.
Our most recent event on Friday, November 6 was a charity ball, called the Winter Masquerade contributing all its proceeds to an organization called Child's Play (http://www.facebook.com/l/72464;www.childsplaycharity.org). The event was conceived by the current club president, who recently has been the only officer listening to and caring for the club members' wishes. Unfortunately he has recently been rejected by three of the other four officers who without consent planned to change the event despite the club and president's clear request. During this event, the other officers made the changes which they had planned without consent and the president was arrested after an argument and removed from the event to the dismay and utter surprise of all the club members present.
On Sunday, November 8 an "Anything Goes Anime Petition" was formed online on facebook and on http://www.facebook.com/l/72464;AGApetition.livejournal.com requesting the club officers Ben Badger, Chelsea Franco, and Carla Vaisman to be removed for documented malfeasance by a majority vote from all active members.
On Tuesday, November 9, after this petition was made known to all the club officers, we received this note anonymously:
We have been approached by FIU administration and have been given the following ultimatum: "Any person not currently enrolled as an FIU student has no place attending any club meeting funded by student A&S fees. Any person who does attend a club meeting must be asked to leave or, if they refuse, will be escorted off campus by campus police. Also, any individual or group who utilizes an FIU classroom without a reservation will similarly be removed from campus."
Our petition still stands, however only FIU students will join the meeting this Thursday to voice all of our concerns and vote on whether or not these three officers should be removed from the club completely.
However this message is very disheartening and indicates that all club members who are not currently enrolled in FIU have no right to attend our Anything Goes Anime meetings, which includes but is not limited to FIU Alumni (even those who have served as officers of the club for years), and members whom have been attending club meetings faithfully and volunteering for the benefit of the club. More importantly why would FIU alumni and faculty not be allowed at our meetings and why can we not bring guests when even SPC events allow FIU students to bring guests to their movie events?
Since Anything Goes Anime is a CSO club under SGA funded by FIU, we are aware that this message is very valid however it was only when the intentions of this petition were brought up that the message was made so utterly clear. Unfortunately CSO officers are probably unaware of any situation within our club unless it was brought to their attention by Ben and Chelsea directly which makes our voice unheard. We are aware that they are both members of the SGA cabinet are at least known by name to the members of CSO. Our club has operated since its start under the SOC (CSO) requirement that only 50% of our members needed to be FIU students, which we have easily complied with.
If there is truly a problem with non-FIU students benefitting from A&S funding then we are happy to forgo our allocated funding from CSO.
All we humbly ask is to be allowed to continue running our meetings in peace without the three above-mentioned officers, as a club dedicated to bringing free anime to the public every Thursday night at FIU since 1997. --------------------

Please, those who can help do so an show up for the silent protest. Those who ARE FIU students go to the meeting and confront those involved!

| I'll say this once, I being a Middle school teacher for 25 years have IMHO a huge amount of knowledge and experience in viewing immaturity and the like.
That being said, this goes out to those in the cosplay community who one need to communicate and NOT have unneeded drama when IF people could say things face to face none of the stuff I have read and seen over the last 7 years would have gotten to insane levels.
lately I think that 4 Chan is and has always been a hot bead of people being shit heads. Now I don't use that term lightly. I myself don;t frequent that site not only for the obvious lying and half truths running through it, but of the way that site has been though too many servers and IPs as they have either been shut down, kicked off or pushed off site due to their clear slander and innuendo.
To me they look for anyone to say things about. And I mean anyone. Whether you agree and be a sycopanth to their dribble, or be the hated anti-4channer, they reap more publicity and that keeps them alive folks.
I have found ignoring them has made things pleasant sort of like how a bully who is ignored and eventually pushed away to that lonely dark corner they came from!
They remind me of those kids in middle school who picked on others so they wouldn't get picked on. The true cowards and hangers on of either the leaders of the class, or the local cool guy or bully of the month.
Ok enough of my rant.
Lets all get along and actually take things out! You'd find many of these disagreements come from hearing half-truths and getting things from a thinner line of truth as the information gets passed on! Plus there is more to life than ranting and raving over something that either isn't important or has nothing to do with you in the first place.
That's my thoughts and I hope it helps some to get along better with their peers!

| Well, did both shows at ASC and am throughly pooped! Friday's show was very good funny and well attended. Saturday's PG-13 was lightly attended and was 15 minutes after the con opened. I think next time I'll ask for a earlier time slot probably after the costume contest so we can get more attendance! Please send any Video or pics from the two shows! Thanks again to Nikki, Collin, Cathy and My Kid Vic! Hope to see you in 3 weeks at InfiniteBits-Con at the same venue, and at Zona-Con in O-town in November! | comments: Leave a comment |
